I just sat and listened

I just sat and listened was part of Julia’s practice based research at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Inspired by composers like Pauline Oliveros and Hildegard Westerkamp, Julia explored listening and sound making based on the environment, searching for compositional devices reflecting the listening of the players. 

In the final performance, Julia set out to create an involving listening experience, presenting a through-composed entity of four pieces (excerpts below) that consisted of field recordings combined with recorded and live instrumental playing.
